In France, the water deficit happened during the crucial maize grain-filling period, leading to lower yields. There's no catching-up with later rain (if there is any!)

So much for the forecast rain for north Wales.

We go into the second month with no rain, with none in prospect.

Spain/ Madrid seems to have become particularly dangerous overnight and there is intense flooding in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, which the west/ UK aren't talking about much.
