The years that Trump could return to the White House is terrifying. Even if he doesnt win the election, the fact that hes t was so close says everything, not just about the US but about the world we live in. Fascism is on the rise everywhere and I dont even know what to say. Really depressing world we live in. And Gaza and Climate Change and the general state of affairs.

How breast milk can help fight climate change

Only 44% of women worldwide exclusively breastfeed their babies for the first six months of their lives

Mostly made from cow's milk - which often is the biggest contributor of emissions from baby formula production - it is turned into powder and packaged in a factory, transported to the shop and then to the mother's home where she uses a plastic bottle to feed the baby

We should be focused on real reductions in emissions, rather than engaging in a counting game

Goodhart's law applies, the measure (or measuring) has become the target not reducing emissions.

Climate Change

Another depressing report on the state of life on our planet Earth...

"More than one in three species of trees are at risk of extinction worldwide, threatening life as we know it on Earth"

This includes "more than 2,000 species for medicines, food and fuels"

"... the number of trees at risk is more than double the number of all threatened birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians combined."

The weight of glaciers resting on volcanoes is thought to suppress eruptions - as the ice melts, the possibility and/or severity of an eruption increases.

Iceland is a scientific test bed for this due to the number of glacier-topped volcanoes.

For those of you who recognize the devastation the Anthropocene Polycrisis ( , , , , , , etc.) is currently causing & will continue to cause: what do you do to keep it together It seems to me that we're not really meant to be "okay" under conditions like this, so I guess "keeping it together" is relative. But I also have to keep functioning on a daily basis. I have to keep living as if I'll have a future, even if I almost certainly won't, & I don't really know how to do that.

I'm paralyzed by indecision & isolation. I can't truly believe in the idea of building community when hardly anyone seems trustworthy. Every effort I make to try to calm my nervous system, even just for a while, makes me feel like I'm burying my head in the sand & sleepwalking into death. I just try to drown out the feeling of impending doom with escapist behavior while hating myself for doing it.

I've tried telling myself all the usual platitudes: "carrying the weight of the world isn't realistic or healthy" "no one is guaranteed tomorrow, just live as best as you can" " ruminating & worrying over what you can't really change doesn't help you & only makes things worse". Nothing really helps. I feel like I'm only really living to placate my loved ones, not out of any genuine desire to continue to exist.

Is this what everyone else feels too What do you do to feel like life is still worth living
