The Global South can be a Renewable Superpower According to the RMI every fifth country in the Global South already has a higher mix of renewables than the Global North. Whats more it controls 70% of global solar and wind resources and 50% of critical minerals. The RMI say that three in four of the countries of the Global South are in the of falling cost of renewables triggering a cleantech revolution.  They predict fossil fuel demand for electricity to peak in the region by 2030 and that the Global South, . The RMI do still stress the need for more action to speed up change. Notably more renewables-friendly policies and further reduction in financing costs for green energy in developing nations is required.  #cleantech #ClimateChange #EndFossilFuels #FossilFuels #GreenEnergy #Renewables #solar #WindPowered On a fundamental level, , is the change, over time, in the planet's general climate, that is being caused by less heat being emitted out to space. Which means, more of the Suns heat remaining in the biosphere (Earth, water, atmosphere) That extra energy (e.g., average increase in heat) is causing the change. E.g., Warming oceans, causing more powerful wind (wind is air moving from higher to lower pressure areas) "Heating up & up" isn't, generally, a healthy effect for life. Practically, objectively, decision makers in "society" could have mitigated . But, greenwash, etc. "Carbon capture", is at best, a gimmick, in that it won't mitigate the underlying environmental & socioeconomic problems (e.g., burning "shit") In theory, we could not have wars, but, psychologically, that's not where many state of minds are "at". They haven't found peace of mind. The reasons for that are multifaceted. Poverty is one example. Being rich & corrupt, is another Great article on the ways trees can aid flood prevention. Mind boggling that climate change wasn't enough to start ramping up nuclear power generation, but the electricity demands of AI is (even if it is the tech giants taking the initiative and reaping the benefits). Also, this is a glimpse at a new, twisted, dystopic future I'm not sure anyone saw coming. Renewables are where it's at "... maybe someday nuclear researchers will be as successful as the renewable energy engineers. But be clearthats where the action is. Over under the big top, solar power is in the center ring, and wind and batteries are in the other two, and what an act theyre putting on!"
