Americans CAN also make this a reality - as much as you can. Cut back on red meat consumption. Install as much as you can. ALL OF THESE ARE THE CHEAPEST OPTIONS RIGHT NOW.

One of the most hopeful headlines Ive seen in awhile:

Clean energy pushes fossil-fuel power into reverse for first time ever

I think - focusing mainly on is no longer sufficient. is already a necessity. New ways to grow food while protecting livelihood of farmers must be a major part of the solution - see Spain for some examples that could work.

Good point about choosing trees now considering the coming effects of . We're probably going to see acceleration of eco system change in the next 30 to 100 years time.Interesting piece on what sounds like interesting horticultural research.

Title: Bonfire (1959)

Artist: Kasamatsu Shiro

The Tokyo Fire Department is urging residents to take early precautions against heatstroke, as the summer heat has been intensifying almost every year, and more high-temperature days are expected.

In Tokyo, the trend toward higher temperatures has become particularly pronounced in recent years. The number of people transported to hospitals for heatstroke between June and September 2025 was the highest since 2010, the earliest year for which statistics are available.

'It has been one week since a forest fire broke out in the town of Otsuchi. The blaze spread at two locations, and the burned area has reached 1,633 hectares. It is the second largest such fire in Japan since the Heisei era (1989-2019).'

'Every effort must be made to quickly extinguish the wildfire in northeast Japan's Iwate Prefecture, and everything possible done to support residents forced to live as evacuees.'

'More than 3,500 people have been evacuated from their homes in Italy as a forest fire continues to rage between the cities of Pisa and Lucca in the picturesque Tuscany region.'

The Good Ancestor

Every day I walk a hundred years
to the hill where my great great granddaughter sits.
I carry words of blessing
and reach to touch her back.

But feeling me near she turns
sad eyed and heavy with grief
"What was it like" she asks
"when the great whales swam
when the birds sang you awake
when the rains came soft
and the soil smelt sweet underfoot"
And the blessings catch in my throat.

On darker days she turns,
her famished face charred and eyes,
sunk in their bony orbits,
burn with curses.
And the blessings
froth at my mouth
with the poisonous spume of betrayal.

On the darkest of all days
I walk the hundred years
and find no one there.

Let today be the bright day.
Let today be the bright day
I lay my hand upon her back
And, feeling me near, she turns
and blesses me, saying
"Your love was fierce enough,
sweet ancestor,
your love was fierce enough."

Today, May 1st, Amsterdam became the first capital city in the world to legally ban fossil fuel and meat advertising in public spaces.
The vote was 27-17 in January. Today the law took effect. JCDecaux and the airlines and the burger chains lost their walls. The Hague went first in 2024. Florence followed.
A capital city on the morning workers march said no, not on our walls. The legal model exists. Push your council.

DIRE CONSEQUENCES!

According to the World Meteorological Organization, Europe is warming >2x as fast as the global average, reducing snow & ice cover. High air temperatures, drought, heatwaves & record ocean temperatures affect regions from the Arctic to the Mediterranean.

Renewables tote bag

This is another organic cotton bag from our Scientist and Philosopher range that we have produced on the Teemill platform.

We live in a very degraded and altered environment that is changing our planet and its processes and life support systems. New green technologies are being developed very rapidly but business as usual economics and hugely powerful and wealthy corporations and individuals are still continuing with their fossil fuel agenda. They must be stopped if we want an equitable future for the generations that follow us. This bag is handy because you wont have to use a plastic one. (S&P)

Check out how these products are made using organic cotton. We need to live in not just a sustainable way but one that causes the least environmental loading on the planet. You can even send these items back to be made into new things when you have finished with them.
