Scary last few days in our region as we were hit with a massive tropical storm. My country Honduras has been hit the hardest. Many bridges have collapsed, while at least 28 energy distribution circuits were down. We had no electricity for the past three days while entire roads were flooded. So who will survive Those who are able to hang on to large tracts of land, mostly the very rich who are buying it up at a serious rate now, and those that they pay to farm it, and to defend it. Payment will likely be as a share of the available food.

Life will be much, much harder, partly because it will be much harder to grow food than it was due to and ecological destruction in general - few or no insects for pollination, poor degraded soil, unpredictable weather, and so on. The carrying capacity of the planet will be very much reduced, but I don't think we will go completely extinct.
