'heat loop'

As of November 7, the majority of New Mexico was facing drought or unusually dry conditions, with nearly every region of the state having gone through a drought phase in the past year, according to the lawmakers.

Thats only three degrees Celsius difference. So, it really doesnt take a lot of temperature change in terms of absolute degree Celsius, to make a huge difference in what the climate system feels, what the living part of the Earth system feels.

"While politicians are reluctant to recognize the right to shelter, they are also negligent on the and local experiences of the impact of on vulnerable populations."

Paving the way for sustainable cooling, with alternate options to air conditioning and heat pumps.

Green Our Planet

Scary last few days in our region as we were hit with a massive tropical storm. My country Honduras has been hit the hardest. Many bridges have collapsed, while at least 28 energy distribution circuits were down. We had no electricity for the past three days while entire roads were flooded. An estimated 1,797 people have been evacuated. They have been sent to shelters.

Flooding has also affected Belize, Nicaragua and El Salvador who are also reporting damages including land slides, evacuees and blocked roads.

Bracing for the Storm: How to Ensure Water Safety in Hurricane-Prone Regions

When the world leaders at the climate conference prefer to deal with oil supplies rather than climate change, it probably doesn't really make sense to hold it at all.

If the reaction to covid is a test for how the powerful deal with climate changelet the plague spread, deny people resources, and hold no one accountable for the damagewe are in tremendous trouble.
Sarah Kendzior, They Knew

We are supposed to pretend that the government would not be so cruel or maniacal or incompetent as to let masses of people die as we ride out a global plague We are supposed to accept, somehow, a preordained scorched earth future, and think it is normal that there is no urgency within the US government to mitigate it

Glad you agree that the of civilisation is imminent. As you can see from my hashtag my guess is that it will be very soon.

What I mean exactly by that hashtag is that if you aren't growing your own food by 2040, you won't be eating. And if you are growing your own food, then roving bands of armed and hungry thugs will be trying to steal it from you.

So who will survive Those who are able to hang on to large tracts of land, mostly the very rich who are buying it up at a serious rate now, and those that they pay to farm it, and to defend it. Payment will likely be as a share of the available food.

It sounds very feudal, doesn't it Well, that's where we are headed, in my view. A few will survive as part of the feudal system described above, in my view, rather than a complete extinction of the human race.

Life will be much, much harder, partly because it will be much harder to grow food than it was due to and ecological destruction in general - few or no insects for pollination, poor degraded soil, unpredictable weather, and so on. The carrying capacity of the planet will be very much reduced, but I don't think we will go completely extinct.

(Hopefully Musk will have buggered off to Mars by then and won't come back, though I suspect that even he will work out that his idea of colonising Mars is entirely impractical.)

what else is this -ish hubris other than the incontestable faith in the idea that, if humans, in particular, only do something with enough conviction, with enough self-congratulatory entitlement - it will all be good.

well guess what we tried that since the 70s. and you see what came out of it.
