After a very hot and dry summer in the Languedoc, we've just had our first pisode cvenol, a severe rain event near the Mediterranean sea.

Nearly 350 mm (13.7 inches) of rain fell in St Hippolyte du Fort, Gard, in 12 hours.

The most intense rainfall rate was 58 mm (2.3 inches) per hour.

Needless to say, there is plenty of flooding throughout the region.

Storms like these are much more common with climate change - big challenges all around!

"Recent studies suggest that the overconsumption of fossil fuels over the past century has hidden the costs of overpopulation on the planet.

The results of this mismatch could lead to food insecurity and an uncertain future unless we reduce Earths population by billions of people by 2200."

Broken by Dams, Sustained by Dams

The Tulotoma snail is still a river life broken by people, yet sustained by people.

Too little water hurts. Too much can too. After drought, heavy rain can wash mud and pollution into the river.

Dams once drove its decline. Now controlled flows and oxygen help keep it alive. So what if the dams were removed

interviews on the science of what's coming

Sorry I've been distant and sad lately. I'm dealing with the crushing existential dread of living on a beautiful planet bursting with life, only to watch the dumbest motherfuckers alive destroy it while chasing as much money as they can hoard.

''In Texas where the oil and

In Iowa where the oil and gas industry is 15pts underwater (i.e., a minus 15pt net favorability rating) the solar and wind industries have significant 61pt and 48pt net favorabilities respectively.''
