Following the devastating wildfires due to climate change, French firefighters are on strike to protest the government's inaction to prevent them and the lack of funding to fight them. Romania shuts down nuclear reactor as Danube hits record lows I made another free video about the environment. Featuring documentary maker Jeff Gibbs, Michael Moore, and more. A little bit of info about Mastodon as well. RE: Great. Let's destroy the planet a bit more. Thanks to fossil fuel execs and a handful of other people, some amount of climate change nightmare is already here, is inevitable, but we absolutely CAN do something about this. We can do a whole lot. The opportunity is incredible - with technology we already have. Just a few thoughts: People MUST be willing to give up their lawns. Im sorry that I dont make up the laws of nature. Transform the energy around turf grass dialogue. Understand why the lawn came to exist and be willing to let go of some control. Deal with your anxiety. We have to upend the auto industry, root out the nasty corruption in our government. Its insane by definition that individual people today are effectively *required* to have their own metal box on wheels - electric or not. And if you think cyclists are anywhere near as dangerous to people on foot, that is incorrect. Good bike infrastructure benefits EVERYONE. We can easily have great transit, too. Abolish the US Senate. Its critical that we do away with every billionaire and free every slave. (Understand that slavery didnt end in the 1860s. We literally made up crime as a way to force people back into unpaid work. Aka.) State governments from coast to coast admit to needing this. Be willing to change yourself and let go of some tradition, your culture. Meat is expensive for example. (Particularly when you expect it to be cheap.) And gendering people in a binary waysomething almost everyone in my parents generation does to this day Its weird. Nasty media and politicians foment transphobia as we speak, harming women across the board. You really dont need to call someone maam or sir - certainly not based on your split-second judgment call. Listen to a multitude of people at the intersection of marginalized identities - especially indigenous folks and Black women. And we do this TOGETHER. Im so grateful for everyone who has taught me along the way here, who is curious and patient while not accepting violence. And thank god for the artists who challenge us, who are open to a variety of ways to see. Lets GO! Everyone needs to take action and we save the planet. Green Our Planet Satire meets reality. Weve watched the number of climate scientists decimated in recent years at the CSIRO and elsewhere. The CSIRO is set to lose two-thirds of its climate modellers, threatening Australias ability to do its own climate modelling at a time when the US has drastically cut its own climate science program. In northern Ghana, many communities depend heavily on agriculture. However, prolonged droughts, irregular rainfall & heavy downpours can significantly affect crop production, livestock and household incomes. Climate change is said to exacerbate these issues, & Journalists have been urged to adopt a more proactive and community-focused approach to climate change reporting
"Researchers working through Japans Weather Attribution Centre found that the countrys intense July heat would have been virtually impossible without global warming...a heatwave of this scale would occur on average once ever 10,000 years.

(looks almost like in free fall... ) costs will continue to grow in future if governments fail to implement policies to limit impacts of climate change. Signed a petition urging the government to tax giants. Demand the government cracks down on and companies and make polluters pay to protect lives and build a fairer, safer future. Will you add your name too It only takes a minute: "a small spike in global sea surface temperatures led to a far bigger one fueled by the release of methane into the atmosphere from melting permafrost. Global sea surface temperatures climbed by more than 7 C or 12 F. "change occurred over tens of thousands of years at a rate of about a 1/10 C every 1,000 years. By comparison, researchers today have observed a nearly 1 C increase in sea surface temperature in just the past 100 years. For several years now I am trying to adapt my wildlife allotment to climate change/breakdown. Planting more trees for shade, planting more densely and with high diversity, planting resilient native plants, lots of mulching, keeping ground covered, adding lots of organic matter, planting in layers as is done in forest gardening, encourage self-seeding. Still this is not enough, the climate is breaking down so fast now it is hard to keep up. Not sure what else to do.
