The fate of one of the last thriving coral reefs in Florida may be imperiled by plans to widen the shipping channel leading into the Everglades.

Humans will go the way of the dodo bird, its a certain thing. A paper I was reading reports that if all carbon output stopped, including breathing and even plant decay. It would take 40 years for temperatures to stop rising. It would take 100 years more to start dropping. This isnt going to happen its very clear at this point that we are past the point of no return as a species.

Cocoa beans quadrupled in price because a series of droughts and floods since 2020 destroyed the plants and made surviving trees vulnerable to pests " in Ghana and Cte dIvoire, which, combined, produce 70% of the worlds chocolate ".
By late 2025, the trees recovered and cocoa shortage now eases.
Prices might follow but not immediately because previous harvests were sold at higher prices.
Alternative locations in Ecuador or Indonesia are also prone to more extreme weather events thanks to Exxon's lies which made fossil fools of us.
What's more: small plantations get abandoned because people move into cities to look for less volatile, permanent jobs.

Sudden urbanisation driven by climate change We've seen in Syria what that leads to.

Haven't bought chocolate since it surged past 15 per kilo = a doubling some time in 2024.

California has had about the average amount of rain expected for this time of year, but snowpack is half of normal and melting fast.
This is absolutely evidence of .

Im not sure this is news, although its good to have science to backup the accelerating and the fast approaching tipping points.

Nice also to see some solutions promoted but Im under no illusions we as a species will take the necessary action, because growth.

King penguins surfing on the 'good edge' of climate change for now
By Amy Briggs

King penguins on islands in the Southern Ocean are breeding earlier and with a higher level of success than they did 24 years ago, a new study shows.

Its the first coldish day of the season. Usually this would have happened a month ago

After a summer of weather disasters, will Kiwis make climate an election issue

Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits.

LOL As if.

Will 2026 be a climate election in NZ Unfortunately not, according to my reading of the data - in spite of the weather disasters throughout the summer.

In my new post, I show that most NZers are won't be voting with climate in mind

This is the first post on my new blog "Three Long Years", where I'll cover NZ and climate politics using analysis of hard data.

Climate Change

The summers of today are vastly different to those of our grandparents
By Tyne Logan, Fran Rimrod, Alex Lim, Sharon Gordon, and Shannon Pearce

It's true, Australia has always been hot. But digging into temperature data shows the summers we experience today are vastly different from those of our grandparents.

The planet just got incredibly close to breaching landmark global warming target.

The target of the 2015 Paris Agreement was to keep global temperatures to less than 1.5C above pre-industrial levels. In February, the planet was just 0.1C shy of that.

What is happening with California snowpack this year is an example of : more extreme storms that bring rain and snow too little snow compared to rain and rapid loss of snowpack due to rising temperatures. Snowpack is just half of normal & melting far more quickly than average.
